Chuck Kottka - Architect AIA - BIM Manager at Orcutt|Winslow
Chuck is an Architect, Project Manager, Notorious Rebel, and BIM Manager proudly serving over 70 design technology denizens. With more than 22 years of experience speaking fluent ARCHICAD, he intuitively solves daily computer calamities, plans workflows with a holistic view of the technology carousel, and diligently hammers away at what will someday be considered a BIM Template Masterpiece.
Hailing from the Great Lakes and Chicago area, Chuck migrated to the “dry heat” of Arizona upon extricating his degree from Ball State University. It was at BSU that, after wandering the wilderness of CAD (and what would someday become BIM), he was introduced to ARCHICAD 4.55 by a renegade associate professor with a decrepit Mac II. It was this discovery that shifted his focus from the doomed art of hand drafting to the digital realm, even stepping into CAD management as an Intern in a small Illinois firm. He has since developed other skills in Information Technology, being the go-to guy for technical problems of all types. He now serves as a walking instruction manual, when not wearing a hard hat and managing real-life construction projects.
Headquartered in Arizona, Orcutt|Winslow specializes in the design of people-oriented architecture, offering management, planning, visualization, and interior design. They have trusted ARCHICAD since the early 90’s. Their clients range from national healthcare providers to local universities, school districts and governmental agencies across the nation. Chuck supports the whole firm, but primarily works on K-12 education projects… especially the tough ones.
Chuck finds that vigorous weight lifting, not-so-vigorous sailing, and extremely casual brewing (and drinking) beer are effective antidotes to the rigors of architectural practice. He also builds model planes and cars, since it seems model buildings usually involve deadlines, and are better left to BIMx.
James Murray - Associate at Rill Architects

James is highly proficient in GDL. He loves what it can do, hates how it works, and understands completely if you want nothing to do with it. Let’s see how far we can get without it! (And, maybe, get a little farther with just a little bit of it.)
For 15 years he has hosted OnLand.info, probably the oldest ARCHICAD blog on the web. Here he shares tips and insights on all aspects of professional ARCHICAD use, in order to grow the ARCHICAD community and help users see the technology’s potential.
James decamped Florida in the early 90s for the Washington DC area, where he enjoys four seasons, endurance sports, beer, the Nationals, and his daughter finally being able to drive herself places.
