Custom Content: Library Parts Without GDL Coding
James Murray, Associate at Rill Architects
Custom design and product elements are critical for showing the uniqueness of each client project. Explore how to create your own objects, doors and windows, and other library parts without GDL coding. Leverage the Library Part Maker add-on to streamline the making of skylights, lamps, and MEP elements. Learn the strengths of different creation techniques for various library part types.
Upskilling the Archicad Veteran
Veleda Miller, Director of Customer Success, GRAPHISOFT North America
Archicad Veterans are experienced Users of multiple Archicad versions. As most Veterans, it’s common to maintain using the most current software similar to the way it was learned in the version available at the time they learned it. This course provides upskilling for experienced Archicad Users to become more efficient and take advantage of features easily overlooked.
Wednesday
Unleashing the Power of Parametric Modeling
Gordana Radonic, Global Community Manager
Join Gordana for this beginner-friendly session on Grasshopper if you feel overwhelmed by the labyrinth of lines and components of its interface. Grasshopper's components are more like puzzle pieces that come in different shapes and functions, and I'll show you how to connect them, manipulate geometry, and perform operations without needing any programming skills. You'll learn how to use logic and skills from architecture and math classes to harness the power of parametric modeling. My goal is to help you conquer Grasshopper and incorporate the power of parametric modeling into your daily Archicad workflow.
The Best BIMx Techniques
Zsolt Oncsak, Professional Services Consultant, GRAPHISOFT
Prepare your model for BIMx - Learn how to create smooth and efficient BIMx models with Archicad in this short course. Discover techniques for optimizing your models, creating accurate 3D settings, and exporting your work for seamless use in BIMx.
Revisiting the Revision Workflow
Zsolt Oncsak, Professional Services Consultant, GRAPHISOFT
Managing revisions in Archicad can be a bit of a grey area, but it's an essential aspect of the documentation process. This course will cover the essentials of the revision workflow in Archicad, including transmittal sets, revisions, and the change manager. By gaining these skills, you'll be able to streamline and track your documentation flow more effectively.
BIM Design Freedom
Leeswann Bolden, Key Account Manager, GRAPHISOFT
Many Archicad Users learn one way to model architectural elements without knowing the other methods. The course will present the benefits and drawbacks of using different tools/processes to create foundations, roofs, fascias, custom walls and more. This content will allow you to model and document more efficiently.
Thursday
Expression Properties
Jan Millán, Customer Engagement Specialist, GRAPHISOFT North America
During this presentation, we will explore how Archicad Expression Properties can help you streamline your workflow and save time. We will provide you with examples of Expression Properties and then explore various ways in which they can be used to improve efficiency and automate tasks. One area in which Expressions can be extremely beneficial is in manipulating data. With the use of Expression Properties, you can quickly do unit conversions and calculations, generate data for schedules, and create custom labels. This not only saves you time but also helps to eliminate errors that can occur when completing these tasks manually. Regardless of whether you are new to Archicad or a seasoned user, you will find this presentation insightful and informative. By the end of it, you will have a better understanding of how you could take advantage of Expression Properties.
Python for Archicad
Jan Millán, Customer Engagement Specialist, GRAPHISOFT North America
Python is a programming language that can be used to extend the functionality of Archicad. With Python, you can automate repetitive tasks, create custom tools and utilities, and extend the functionality of Archicad. Once you have a basic understanding of Python, you can start writing your own scripts. There are many resources available online to help you learn Python, including tutorials, videos, and online courses. If you want to take your Python skills to the next level, you can work with a Python developer to create custom tools and utilities for your Archicad workflow. Working with a developer can help you create more complex scripts and tools that are tailored to your specific needs which will help you get even more out of Archicad. At the end of this presentation you will be familiarized with how python could fit into your workflow.
3D Documents
Leeswann Bolden, Key Account Manager, GRAPHISOFT
Are your highly detailed models only presented in 2D for your construction documents? Are you looking at better ways to communicate your project? Learn how to easily use 3D cutaways and flat views to create “exploded” axonometric drawings. Incorporate Graphic Overrides to highlight relevant information. Get creative with Line types fills and creating great graphics in Archicad.
Friday
Stairs and Railings - A Different Approach
Patrick May, BIM consultant at 4D PROOF
The ‘new’ stair and railing tools have been part of Archicad for a few years, but often get avoided due to learning curve or difficult designs to accomplish with these tools. This presentation have two goals: to think of these tools from a new perspective that allows them to be more flexible and user friendly, and to use these tools in more diverse ways, beyond simple stairs and railings.
The Less Intuitive Tools (Morph, Shell, Mesh)
Patrick May, BIM consultant at 4D PROOF
These three tools are invaluable assets to modeling complex geometries, custom accessories, and sculptural building components. They may be left unused; but once you know a few shortcut commands and pet pallet options, they become simple and efficient to master in your daily workflow. We will look at how to quickly and efficiently model terrain, site walls, complex building forms, complex light fixtures, and custom cabinetry using these three tools.
Speed and Complexity, Part 1: Bathrooms in Archicad
Jared Banks, Architect, AIA, Shoegnome Architects
Bathrooms are in virtually every project. They are an inescapable aspect of working in Archicad. In this session, Jared Banks of Shoegnome Architects will explore a a variety of tips and tricks related to modeling and documenting bathrooms in Archicad. Using recent residential projects as well as the Shoegnome Open Template, we’ll tackle both fast, schematic bathrooms and hyper-detailed, complex situations. We'll explore many different aspects of Archicad from modeling and annotation to documentation and beyond. We’ll also discuss the Interior Elevation Tool and highlight the power and importance of Favorites.
Speed and Complexity, Part 2: Kitchens in Archicad
Jared Banks, Architect, AIA, Shoegnome Architects
Kitchens are complicated. Modeling and documenting them should not be. In this session, Jared Banks of Shoegnome Architects will build on concepts discussed in Speed and Complexity, Part 1 as we explore a variety of kitchens. We’ll start with the simplest as-built kitchens and work our way to the most complex kitchens where every knob is custom and perfectly located. We’ll explore both the how and why of modeling and documenting these important spaces. Throughout this two part lecture series, we’ll focus on how to design, sketch, document, and visualize kitchens and bathrooms in Archicad.
